Dr. Amanda Hawkes, DAT, ATC, NRP

Dr. Amanda Hawkes is a dedicated educator, paramedic, and athletic trainer with a passion for advancing athletic training education and clinical practice. She holds a Doctor of Athletic Training from A.T. Still University and is a Nationally Registered Paramedic. Dr. Hawkes currently serves as Assistant Professor and Simulation Coordinator at Utah Tech University, where she integrates hands-on learning and simulation into athletic training education. Her professional journey spans over 16 years at various institutions with experience in collegiate athletics, high school athletics and education, EMS instruction, and as a clinical education coordinator. She also actively practices as a Paramedic for Gold Cross and serves as an EMS course coordinator and instructor for EMS courses at Southwest Technical College in Cedar City.

Dr. Hawkes’ impact extends beyond the classroom. She volunteers at athletic events and serves on multiple professional committees within the UATA, RMATA, NATA and the BOC. Her contributions to peer-reviewed journals and national presentations reflect her commitment to evidence-based practice and academic excellence. She loves athletic training because it allows her to combine science, service, and human connection—helping individuals recover, perform, and thrive while mentoring the next generation of clinicians.

She has traveled to all 50 U.S. states and over 25 countries, gaining meaningful experiences and deepening her understanding of diverse cultures around the world while experiencing fun adventures along the way!
