Students will be admitted into the program without discrimination as to age, sex, creed, ethnic origin or marital status. Minimum eligibility requirements include a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher in all college work and a grade of C or higher in all math and science courses as well as open enrollment courses MLS 1113 and MLS 1123. Math and science prerequisites must be completed within seven years of applying to program. Once admitted to DSU students must apply to the AAS in MLS by completing an application ($25 non-refundable fee). Students must also submit official transcripts to the Allied Health Advisor Esther Pugmire, (pugmire@utahtech.edu). Application must be submitted by April 15th for Fall admission. Acceptance to the AAS program is based on candidate interview (25%), essay (15%), GPA (30%), laboratory experience (10%), and references (20%). The candidate selection committee consists of the program director and faculty. All science classes must be completed within 7 years of application.

- Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations.
- Lift and move objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to communicate effectively using an LIS system, telephone, and face to face.
- Have sufficient motor skills to move from one department to another and operate laboratory equipment.
- Ability to follow instructions.
