Kimberly Jensen, RDH, MS, is an Associate Professor at Utah Tech University, where she has been teaching both clinical and didactic courses in the Department of Dental Hygiene since 2012. Professor Jensen earned her dental hygiene degree from then, Dixie State University (now Utah Tech University) and her Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Brigham Young University. She furthered her graduate studies at Utah State University where she received her Master of Science degree in Instructional Technology and Learning Sciences.
Professor Jensen is a member of the American Dental Education Association and the American Dental Hygienists Association. She is currently teaching courses in dental hygiene theory, head and neck anatomy, histology and embryology, leadership and group dynamics, community oral health, and the dental hygiene senior capstone project. Her scholarly contributions include presentations on a local, state, and national level where she has presented on active learning strategies, instructional technology tools, student engagement, and medical and dental integration.
Throughout her tenure, she has served on various university, college, and department committees, demonstrating her commitment to shared governance and institutional advancement. She has also traveled internationally with students to provide dental humanitarian services, reflecting her dedication to global health and experiential learning.
Professor Jensen exemplifies Utah Tech’s motto of “active learning, active life” through her dynamic approach to education. She is committed to fostering a safe, supportive learning environment built on mutual respect and trust. She believes students achieve optimal learning outcomes when they feel comfortable asking questions, sharing experiences, and engaging actively with course material. Her student-centered approach emphasizes collaboration, critical thinking, and professional development. Outside of academia, Professor Jensen enjoys running, hiking, traveling, and spending quality time with her husband, children and grandchildren.
