Appeal for Prerequisite Substitutions or Alternate Fulfillment Methods

  • Applicants who believe they have completed equivalent coursework or have relevant work experience or experiential learning that should be considered for prerequisite requirements may submit a written appeal to the Admissions Committee.
  • The appeal must include a clear rationale for the request for reconsideration, detailed information on the completed coursework or experience, and any supporting documentation, such as course descriptions, syllabi, or work experience documentation.
  • The Admissions Committee will review the appeal and provide a written response within 30 days of receipt. The decision of the Admissions Committee on the appeal is final.

AP Credits

The Occupational Therapy Doctoral Program accepts Advanced Placement (AP) credits for prerequisite courses, provided that the applicant has achieved a score of 4 or 5 on the relevant AP examination.

AP credits will only be accepted for specific prerequisites as determined by the OTD program.

Applicants must submit official AP score reports to the Admissions Committee as part of their application materials. The Admissions Committee will review the scores and determine whether the AP credits meet the program’s prerequisite requirements.

OTD Transfer Credits

The Occupational Therapy Doctoral Program does not accept transfer credits from other OTD programs at this time. All students admitted to the program are required to complete the entire curriculum as outlined by our institution.

This policy has been established to maintain the integrity and consistency of our program and to ensure that all students receive the comprehensive education necessary to prepare them for professional practice in the field of occupational therapy.
