When and where are classes taught?
Certified Nurse Assistant classes are taught each semester with a variety of days and hours to fit most everyone’s schedule. Check the current class schedule for information on upcoming classes.
Classes are taught off-campus at the Taylor Health Science Center, Hurricane Education Center, Panguitch Education Center, Water Canyon Education, or the Kanab Education Center. Other classes may be available at different locations depending on the specific semester.

How many credits is the course?
The CNA Course is 4.0 credits. To successfully complete the course, each student must complete at least 76 hours of classroom and 24 hours of clinical experience.
Once students successfully complete the 4.0 credit course, they are eligible to take the state exam for certification.
Tuition, Fees and Other Costs
- The total cost of the CNA Program is $1,275 for resident tuition students

- Other tuition types (non-resident, good neighbor, etc.) are listed on the catalog page linked above
- The course fee is $30 (laboratory).
- Other costs not covered by tuition vary and include drug screen ($30), vaccinations and/or blood work proving immunity ($100-300).

What are the required materials?
- TEXTBOOK/WORKBOOK – Carter, P.J. (2020). Lippincott textbook for nursing assistants: A humanistic approach to caregiving (5th ed.). Philadelphia: Wolters Kluwer.
- Information for the digital version of the textbook/workbook will be provided by your instructor.
- UNIFORM
- Scrubs. One set of scrubs is required to be worn during labs and clinical.
Top: Steel Gray
Bottom: Black - Shoes. Medical, professional, or athletic footwear required.
Must be clean, closed toe. No bright colors. - Photo Name Badge. Provided by UT. $10 replacement fee.

Stethoscope & Blood Pressure Cuff required. Cost is approximately $50 at UT Campus Store.

What are the health requirements?
The following requirements are MANDATORY and are generally due around midterm:
- Vaccinations
- Hepatitis B (2 required; completed series required for nursing program)
- Tuberculosis (two separate TST/PPD)
- Measles, Mumps and Rubella (2 required; completed series required for nursing program)
- Tdap (1 required after age ten)
- Annual Flu Vaccination (August through May; Summer Semester exempt)
- Covid (Johnson & Johnson – 1 required, or Moderna or Pfizer – 2 required)
- Drug Screen & Background Check completed after start of semester
What do I need before I start the course?
You are NOT required to complete any steps prior to starting the course beyond registration and tuition payment.
